Making and release
That band included schoolteachers Paul Medew and Glen Donald, later recruiting Cathy Atthow on drums, and released a cassette titled Who's Gerald's Greatest Hits on their own Gerald Corp Records.[2] Custard existed for about a decade with several different drummers and released five studio albums in the 1990s.[3] Since 2018, McCormack has voiced Bandit Heeler in the ABC Kids series Bluey, performing his voice work remotely in Sydney.[4][5] He is set to reprise his role as Bandit in a film adaptation slated for release in August 2027.[5]
The suburb of Kenmore in west Brisbane was where McCormack was raised, and his schooling took place at Ipswich Grammar School.[2] Scott Younger joined Atthow, McCormack, and Medew in 1988 for the short-lived band Automatic Graphic.[6] Custard Gun was created in 1989 by McCormack and Medew together with Shane Brunn and James Straker; after Straker departed at the beginning of 1990, the group changed its name to Custard, and Matthew Strong came in as Straker's replacement at the close of that year.[7] As part of the Queensland Proclamation Day 150th Anniversary Celebrations, Custard got back together for a performance on 10 December 2009.[8]
