William T. Spears
The Grim Reaper who scolds colleagues for missing soul collections.
William T. Spears is a no-nonsense, dignified Grim Reaper in Black Butler who is Grell Sutcliff and Ronald Knox's superior, always reprimanding them for their mistakes. His Death Scythe is modeled after an extendable pruner. In the 2017 animated film Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic he appears in a post-credits scene, rescuing Grell and Ronald from the shipwreck of the Campania and scolding them for failing to collect all of the souls from the incident.
Lore & Background
In Book of the Atlantic, Ronald Knox is ordered by Grim Reaper Dispatch to investigate reports of reanimated corpses aboard the luxury liner Campania, and Grell Sutcliff joins him when the ship strikes an iceberg. When the two fail to collect all of the souls from the incident, William rescues them from the shipwreck and scolds them.
