Grell Sutcliff

Grell Sutcliff is a sadistic, flamboyant Grim Reaper in Black Butler who initially posed as Angelina Dalles' butler and conspired with her as Jack the Ripper. On stage, the first musical adaptation, 'That Butler, Friendship', ran at the Sunshine Theater in Ikebukuro between May 28, 2009, and June 7, 2009. In this stage role, actor Uehara Takuya brought the character to life alongside Yuya Matsushita as Sebastian Michaelis and Shougo Sakamoto as Ciel Phantomhive.

Grell's Death Scythe is modeled after a chainsaw. After being exposed as Madam Red's accomplice in the Jack the Ripper murders, Grell killed her, was reprimanded, and later returned to work as a Grim Reaper. Grell is infatuated with Sebastian Michaelis and always tries to approach him. In Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic, Grell leaps aboard the Campania from the iceberg to help Ronald Knox reap the souls of the passengers.
