Chaos (realm)

The human world, one of the three realms of Bayonetta.

In Bayonetta, Chaos is the realm of humans. Bayonetta 3 describes the setting as the Trinity of Realities: Paradiso, the realm of angels; Inferno, the realm of demons; and the World of Chaos, the human world. In the first game the three were said to have been a single realm until an event called First Armageddon split them apart.

Lore & Background

Bayonetta can move between Paradiso and Chaos but cannot enter Inferno. In Bayonetta 2, Luka's Legend of Aesir describes Aesir as the former ruler of the Chaos realm who created the Eyes of the World so that humanity would have free will, and Loptr says that he and Loki were once that God of Chaos. Bayonetta 3 treats the World of Chaos as made up of many alternate universes; to stop Singularity, Bayonetta and Viola gather the Chaos Gears on the island of Thule.
