Lore & Background
Founded in 1904 by employees of the paint factory, today better known as a pharmaceutical company Bayer, the club was formerly a department of TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen sports club. In 1999, the football department was separated from the sports club. The club's main colours are red and white, and their main rival is 1. FC Köln, while fans have had a deep friendship with supporters of Kickers Offenbach for almost 50 years.
In Their Own Story
The rain slicked the BayArena turf under the floodlights. In the South Stand, drums pounded a rhythm that vibrated through the concrete seats. A veteran fan clutched his scarf, eyes fixed on the penalty spot.
It was another final, another chance to break the curse. The whistle blew, and for a moment, hope hung suspended in the Rhineland air before the roar of relief or despair would decide the night's memory.
Reader's Guide
