Kohr came through Bayer Leverkusen's youth system. He made his Bundesliga debut on 21 April 2012 in a 1–0 win over 1899 Hoffenheim. After loan spells and a permanent move to FC Augsburg, he rejoined Leverkusen in July 2017. He later played for Eintracht Frankfurt before joining Mainz 05 on loan in January 2021, with the loan extended for the 2021–22 season. On 12 May 2022, he moved to Mainz 05 permanently on a four-year contract.
