Spirou Basket, often shortened to Spirou, is a professional basketball team from Charleroi, Belgium. The club plays in the BNXT League, the top level of Belgian basketball, and hosts its games at the Spiroudome, an arena with a capacity of 6,300. Founded in 1989, the team takes its name from the long-running Belgian comic magazine *Spirou*, which is published by Dupuis, a company based in the Marcinelle district of Charleroi.
Since its founding, Spirou Charleroi has won the Belgian League championship ten times (1996–1999, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011), the Belgian Cup five times (1996, 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2009), and the Belgian Supercup seven times (1996, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2008, and 2010). The club first appeared in the Euroleague, Europe’s top continental competition, during the 1996–97 season, and later returned for four more regular-season campaigns (2000–01, 2001–02, 2010–11, and 2011–12). Its best European result came in the 2004–05 season, when it reached the quarter-finals of the EuroCup.
On July 29, 2014, Jacques Stas was appointed head coach of the club, while his predecessor, Giovanni Bozzi, took over as team president. Since the 2021–22 season, Spirou has competed in the BNXT League, a merger of the top Belgian and Dutch leagues.
Over the years, the club has gone by several names due to sponsorship changes: Spirou Monceau (1989–1990), Spirou Charleroi (1990–2011), Belgacom Spirou (2011–2014), Proximus Spirou (2014–2018), and Val-Dieu Spirou (2025–present).
