After the Titans locked him out, the Ravens made a deal in June 2006.
Steve McNair joined the Baltimore Ravens from the Tennessee Titans in June 2006 after eleven seasons with that franchise. The Titans, worried that an injury would trigger 23.46 million dollars in contract obligations, had locked him out of their headquarters that offseason, prompting a players' union grievance, and on April 30, 2006, they allowed him and his agent Bus Cook to talk to the Ravens about a trade, which was completed on June 7.

McNair, the 2003 co-MVP with Peyton Manning and the first African-American quarterback to win the award, spent his final two seasons in Baltimore and helped the Ravens win the division title in 2006. He was shot and killed in 2009, two years after retiring, and was posthumously elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2020.
