Warpath (video game)
A first-person shooter with upgradeable weapons and mixed reviews.

Demo
A demo for the PC version of Warpath was released on March 1, 2006, and included two maps: Breach for Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, and Rush for Capture The Flag. The Front Line Assault mode was not included. This demo appeared on the disc with the April 2006 issue of PC Gamer. The Xbox demo, on the disc with the June 2006 issue of Official Xbox Magazine, was similar but used SubZero instead of Breach for the Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch map.
Reception
The game earned a mixed reception on both consoles, as tracked by Metacritic. Its launch was pushed back several times from an initial March 2006 date, and while journalists' opinions grew more favorable during development, the final verdicts stayed divided. Players who tried the full game or demo described it as a high-quality, fast-paced shooter. IGN pointed out that Warpath commits no major errors but introduces nothing original, with repetitive metallic corridors, flawed enemy AI even on the hardest setting, and imbalanced weapons like the overpowered Vibro Blade in tight spaces. Vehicles feel pointless because the maps are too cramped. The upgradeable weapons are a nice touch, but they fail to keep players engaged for more than a few hours.
