The Libyan Terrorist Standoff

A swindled load of plutonium brings gunfire to a mall parking lot.

The Libyan Terrorist Standoff is the violent spark that ignites the entire Back to the Future saga. On October 26, 1985, in the Twin Pines Mall parking lot, Doc Brown's triumph turns instantly to tragedy. After stealing plutonium to power his flux capacitor, Doc finds himself cornered by the very men he stole from. Their retribution is swift and lethal, forcing Marty McFly into a desperate escape that shatters time itself.

Lore & Background

The conflict stems from the plutonium that powers the time machine, which Doc swindled from Libyan terrorists who had themselves stolen it from a power plant. He used it to power the DeLorean instead of building a nuclear weapon for them. The terrorists arrive unexpectedly at the mall parking lot just after Doc has entered a destination time of November 5, 1955.

Reader's Guide

That night Doc meets Marty in the Twin Pines mall parking lot and unveils a time machine built from a modified DeLorean. The terrorists arrive unexpectedly and gun Doc down. As gunfire erupts and Doc is struck, Marty accelerates the DeLorean to 88 mph in a panic, triggering the time circuit activation just as his mentor falls.
