Discovery of the Sports Almanac
A small book that nearly erased the future and turned a bully into a king.
The Gray's Sports Almanac is a book containing the results of major sporting events from 1950 to 2000 that Marty McFly purchases in 2015; it becomes the catalyst for a catastrophic timeline shift after an elderly Biff Tannen takes it back to 1955. Its presence enables Biff Tannen to exploit future knowledge, gambling his way into wealth and transforming Hill Valley into a corrupt empire dominated by Tannen's Casino.

Lore & Background
The almanac functions as a paradox engine, allowing its user to bypass risk and guarantee outcomes that should remain uncertain. It demonstrates how absolute foreknowledge corrupts free will, turning sports into a rigged system and morality into an afterthought. The book was destroyed in 1955 by Marty, on Doc's advice.
Reader's Guide
The narrative begins when Marty McFly purchases the almanac in 2015. Returning to 1985, he finds an alternate reality where Biff Tannen rules Hill Valley as a wealthy crime lord. Doc deduces that the elderly Biff, who had overheard them and retrieved the discarded almanac, took the time machine to 1955 to give the book to his younger self. Marty and Doc Brown travel back to 1955 to intercept the theft before history solidifies. Marty secretly follows the 1955 Biff and watches him receive the almanac from his 2015 self. Marty uses the hoverboard to take the almanac back from Biff. On Doc's advice, Marty burns the almanac. This nullifies the changes to the timeline that the almanac had caused.
