The Vorlons were one of the five major spacefaring races that gathered at Babylon 5, a station built as a neutral venue for discussing and resolving issues between them. When Ambassador Kosh arrived at the station, he was poisoned by a Minbari assassin using a changeling net to impersonate Commander Sinclair. The assassin was a member of the Minbari warrior caste who wanted to discredit Sinclair as retribution for Sinclair's role in the Earth–Minbari War ten years earlier. The Vorlon delegation, satisfied that Sinclair was innocent, dropped all charges against him. Kosh's secrecy is a running theme in the show — the explanation used for cast changes between the pilot and series was that the medical officer and Lyta Alexander saw Kosh outside his encounter suit and thus had to be removed from duty.

The Vorlon delegation, worried that if Kosh died they would attack and destroy the station, allowed Lyta Alexander to perform an unauthorized mind scan on the unconscious Kosh. The scan showed Commander Sinclair poisoning the Ambassador, leading to an accusation of attempted murder. A meeting of Babylon 5's Council, made up of delegates from all five races, resolved to extradite Sinclair to the Vorlon homeworld for trial. The assassin was later revealed to be a Minbari using a changeling net to impersonate Sinclair. The Vorlon delegation dropped all charges once Sinclair was proven innocent.
