This testing ground was established eons ago when both they and their rivals began manipulating existing emerging races rather than creating them from scratch. Their influence is felt deeply in the history of the Minbari and Earth. However, it is crucial to note that the Shadows were completely dormant during the devastating war between these two races roughly one decade prior to the events on Babylon 5. That conflict was triggered by human aggression and the assassination of Ambassador Dukhat, rather than any Shadow instigation or manipulation. While the Minbari utilized technology derived from the First Shadow War, the Shadows did not actively resupply, intervene, or drive the carnage during that specific conflict; they remained in hiding until their return to the galaxy in force. When they finally returned, it marked the beginning of the Shadow War. They sought to destroy the Vorlons once and for all while testing the resolve of the young races who had gathered on Babylon 5. Ultimately, their defeat signaled the end of an era where ancient powers dictated the fate of lesser beings.
