Order of the White Lotus

Iroh's secret order of masters.

The White Lotus is an international order of teachers, philosophers and warriors in Avatar: The Last Airbender who value knowledge and wisdom above nationality. It takes its name from the White Lotus tile of Pai Sho, the game its members use to communicate.

Lore & Background

Iroh is one of its highest-ranking members, a Grand Lotus, and hints of the order appear through his actions; in "Sozin's Comet" he calls on all its members to free Ba Sing Se, joined by masters such as Piandao and Jeong Jeong. In The Legend of Korra the order has become an elite international police force that also finds, guides and protects the next Avatar.
