Characters

Derek Dynamo, voiced by Valin Shinyei, is the fun-loving, highly intelligent son of Dr. Dexter Dynamo. He works for Earthcore alongside his father and best friend Super Dinosaur, protecting the planet from hazards, and rides a robot he built named Wheels. Super Dinosaur, voiced by Deven Mack, is a genetically-altered Tyrannosaurus rex created by Max Maximus. He lives with the Dynamo family in the Dynamo Dome, is a vegetarian, enjoys video games and skateboarding, and uses an interchangeable harness with robotic arms in battle. He accidentally adopted a penguin as a pet on a mission. Dr. Dexter Dynamo, voiced by Alessandro Juliani, is a genius who creates gear for his son and Super Dinosaur. His cognitive abilities were diminished after Max Maximus poisoned him with a mind-decaying virus, later reversed by an invention of his old friend Dr. Oliver Manchester in the season 1 finale. The Kingstons are a family of mechanics sent to live in the Dynamo Dome by General Casey. Bruce Kingston, voiced by Brian Dobson, is the husband of Sarah, voiced by Kathleen Barr, and father of Erin and Erica. Erin Kingston, voiced by Shannon Chan-Kent, is a charismatic girl who befriends Derek and joins Earthcore's cadet program; Derek builds her a robot named Pixie. Erica Kingston, also voiced by Shannon Chan-Kent, is initially annoyed about moving from Washington D.C., cares little about Earthcore, and is drawn to the arts; she has a pet spider named Sherman. General Casey, voiced by Dean Redman, is the Earthcore military administrator overseeing funding, deployment, and imprisonment of super-villains.

Production

The series Super Dinosaur was first reported as a co-production between Spin Master Entertainment, Atomic Cartoons, and Corus Entertainment in November 2017. Robert Kirkman officially announced it at San Diego Comic-Con in 2018. Corus later confirmed it would air on Teletoon, where it premiered on September 8. The show uses CG animation with Autodesk Maya, plus 2D super deformed animation for cutaway gags, and is presented in a letterboxed format with matte break effects.
