Production
The animated series Superhero Kindergarten began production in May 2019 after Arnold Schwarzenegger was cast as the lead, Arnold Armstrong, also known as Captain Fantastic. Schwarzenegger also worked as a co-executive producer alongside Paul Wachter, the CEO of Main Street Advisors, and Fabian Nicieza, who developed the series. Amazon Prime Video picked up the show on June 15, 2020, and John Landis signed on to direct and executive produce all 52 episodes of the season five days later. In July 2020, Genius Brands and Archie Comics released a comic book version of Superhero Kindergarten, based on the late Stan Lee’s work, under a multi-year deal. Lee made cameo appearances in the series, which was his final personal project. Schwarzenegger explained that the show’s concept came from his wish to make a follow-up to Kindergarten Cop, and that Stan Lee suggested an animated story about a retired superhero teaching a class of superpowered children. Steven Banks was credited as a writer on the series in 2021.

Alessia Santoro of PopSugar gave a positive review, calling it a show for superhero-loving parents and children to enjoy together.
