Cast

The voice of Niko in the pilot belonged to Felix Avitia, while Andre Robinson took over for the series. Niko is the most recent human Champion in a long line of heroes who have all failed to stop the evil sorcerer Nar Est and wipe out the Darkness. Because his chrysalis was opened too early by accident, he is also the youngest Champion physically. He is an energetic boy with a brave heart and a pure soul who never backs down from a challenge. When he wields the Sword of Light, he can strike down creatures twisted by the Darkness and cleanse them, returning them to what they originally were. Kari Wahlgren voiced Lyra, the Princess of the human kingdom Carondole. Her entire kingdom has been trapped inside a sphere where time stands still, and she has remained fourteen years old for 768 years. Her role is to act as a spirit guide for the Champions, teaching them how to defeat Nar Est, but every single one before Niko has died. When she first meets Niko, she tries to steer him to a safe place so he can grow up a bit, but events force her to take physical form in the real world. Once Nar Est is finally beaten, Lyra becomes Queen. Jim Cummings provided the voices for the Narrator, the Darkness, and the Mugwump. Dee Bradley Baker voiced Flicker, a Buttermonk that was corrupted by the Darkness and turned into a monster named Xerxes. Flicker was chasing Mandok to eat him, which accidentally freed Niko from his chrysalis early. Flicker is the first darkened creature Niko purifies, and he becomes a devoted friend. Over the course of the journey, Flicker goes through several metamorphoses by forming a cocoon, each time growing larger and gaining new abilities like shooting lasers from his eyes, eventually becoming a bug-like, beastly, dragon-like creature that can carry his friends. After being hurt, Flicker cocoons again and shrinks back to his tiny original form. Besides flying and laser vision, Flicker can also project other people’s memories from his eyes, much like a movie projector.
