Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars is a 1985 Japanese animated epic space opera film and the sixth Doraemon film. Directed by Tsutomu Shibayama, it parodies George Lucas' original Star Wars trilogy, with elements from Return of the Jedi. A modern remake, Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars 2021, was released in theaters on March 4, 2022.

Plot

The story starts with a battle on a far-off planet, where the president escapes in a rocket. Back on Earth, Nobita gets kicked out by Gian and Suneo after he ruins the set for the space movie they were making. He goes to Doraemon, and the two of them get Shizuka to help them make their own film. While they are filming, Nobita finds something that looks like a toy rocket.

That night, he and Doraemon discover a tiny, smart humanoid alien named Papi in their room. Papi tells them a dangerous enemy is after him. Nobita, Doraemon, and Shizuka promise to keep him safe at their home, and they use Doraemon’s Small Light to shrink themselves down to Papi’s size so they can play together. Meanwhile, a whale-shaped spaceship destroys Suneo’s new set.

Suneo and Gian go to Nobita’s house to confront him, but Papi explains that the ship was sent by the PCIA to find him. He reveals that he is the president of his planet, Pirika, which has been taken over by a dictator named Gilmore. The PCIA is the dictator’s intelligence agency, and they were sent to capture Papi so Gilmore can have total victory. Nobita and his friends hide Papi in a secret base made with one of Doraemon’s gadgets inside Shizuka’s home.

The PCIA battleship sneaks into the base, kidnaps Shizuka, steals the Small Light, and stops the children from returning to their normal size. The head of the PCIA, Dorakoruru, leaves a message demanding Papi in exchange for Shizuka’s freedom and life. Papi leaves alone to surrender, while the children rewire Suneo’s model tanks so they can fly and fight. Papi’s pet dog, Rokoroko, arrives but is too late to save him.

The dog and Shizuka come back to the others, and together they plan to travel to Pirika using the same rocket Papi arrived in. Near Pirika, they reach a secret base in the planet’s ring. The army chief, Genbu, tells them that Papi is being held in the PCIA’s head office and faces a death sentence. Doraemon, Nobita, and Gian head to the planet with Rokoroko, while Shizuka and Suneo stay behind to defend the base from the PCIA space force.

Nobita’s group meets a resistance group, but everyone gets captured by PCIA soldiers after Gilmore’s cameras track them down. Shizuka and Suneo are shot down in their tanks. As their tanks sink into the ocean, they both suddenly start returning to their normal sizes.
