Last updated

Dot in Space is a 1994 Australian animated film featuring the character Dot from the Dot and the Kangaroo series. Unlike earlier entries in the series, it rarely received releases outside Australia.

Plot

Dot noticed a Russian dog named Whyka on television, launched into space but stuck in orbit. Determined to help, she went to America and swapped places with Buster, a monkey scheduled for a moon mission. Her rocket launched, and she rescued Whyka just before his exploded. The blast knocked them off course, and they landed on the planet Pie-Arr-Squared.

Roundie soldiers captured them, tying and gagging Dot. Their leader, Papa Drop, gave Whyka to his son Roley. Dot was interrogated and thrown into the Prison for Squares. There she met Poley, a prisoner who told her the Roundies and Squaries once lived in peace.

After days of forced labor, Dot tricked the Roundies into freeing her and found Whyka again. Their rocket was stuck in the ground, so they searched for The Party, a figure Papa Drop feared was plotting against him. They faced dangers and the Roundy Army chased them. Recaptured, an alien dinosaur named Gorgo scared the Roundies away.

The Party, actually Roley in disguise, started a rebellion with Dot, Whyka, and reformed Roundies. They exposed Papa Drop as a fraud and freed the Squaries. Papa Drop’s assistant Inflato pumped him up until he drifted into space. Gorgo retrieved Dot’s rocket, and she and Whyka blasted back to Earth.
