Premise

The series centers on Blue, a happy-go-lucky female blue dog who talks and loves to sing, dance, and play with her friends. She interacts with Sprinkles, her shy little brother who became co-host in the second season; Roar E. Saurus, a red-orange dinosaur who likes practicing roaring; Frederica, a purple doll who pretends it is her birthday; and Polka Dots, a sea-foam plush toy who creates puzzles. Together they go on adventures, solve problems, and use their imaginations.

Characters

Blue, the cheerful blue dog who hosts the show, is voiced by Victoria Pontecorvo and was puppeteered by Leslie Carrara-Rudolph in the first season and Noel MacNeal in the second. She is Sprinkles’ older sister and loves to sing, dance, and play. She often greets people with a loud “Hi, you!” and asks viewers open-ended questions, with “Hoop-dee-doo!” as her signature phrase. Her best friend is Polka Dots, a sea-foam dog who makes puzzles for others. Polka Dots was originally puppeteered and voiced by Tim Lagasse in the pilot and shorts, then by Peter Linz in season one and Pam Arciero in season two. Frederica, or Fred, is a purple doll who acts like every day is her birthday; she is puppeteered and voiced by Cheryl Blaylock. Roar “Roary” E. Saurus, a red-orange dinosaur doll, enjoys practicing his roaring and is puppeteered and voiced by Joey Mazzarino. Sprinkles, also puppeteered and voiced by Joey Mazzarino, is Blue’s baby brother and joined as co-host in the second season. He started as a plain white puppy but gained spots as he learned new things, and was created by sisters Ashleigh and Lacey Campion through a Nick Jr. contest. Doodleboard, an easel who draws and doodles to let viewers guess objects, was puppeteered and voiced by Peter Linz in season one and James Godwin in season two. Dress Up Chest, a purple treasure chest who hands out costumes and sometimes tells stories, was originally puppeteered and voiced by Tim Lagasse in the pilot and shorts, then by Tyler Bunch in the series. Boogie Woogie, a jukebox who loves to sing and dance, is puppeteered and voiced by Joey Mazzarino. Silly Seat, a polka-dotted chair that tells jokes and riddles, is puppeteered by Marc Petrosino and voiced by Jared Goldsmith. Joe, played by Donovan Patton, is a human who takes care of Blue and Sprinkles; he appeared as a guest in season one and became a main character in season two. Handy Dandy Journal, voiced by Alex Hoffman, is an animated talking notebook with a face like Polka Dots, where Blue writes and draws her thoughts.
