Facts from the source article.
Plot
The series follows best friends Mitchell Taylor and Stanley Hope in Eerie, Indiana, depicted as the weirdest place on Earth. They constantly encounter strange phenomena that only they seem to notice. To prove these events to others, they begin collecting evidence of the odd occurrences.
Development
In 1997, Fox Kids aired reruns of the earlier show Eerie, Indiana, which gained a cult following and encouraged Fox to produce this spin-off. Rick Karo from Hearst Entertainment called the original a Cinderella story in television. The series was shot on location in Canada, with Toronto standing in for the town of Eerie.
Reception
Alex Strachan from The Vancouver Sun praised the first episode, noting the story about an otherworldly satellite dish with 2,000 channels was zany and charming, and that Bill Switzer had a low-key naturalness. Common Sense Media stated that while the show lacks some of its predecessor's pizzazz, it remains an entertaining blend of comedy and mock horror suitable for families, with satire that keeps it from being truly scary. Stephen Harber from Den of Geek wrote that the series was neither a remake nor a reboot but a spin-off, and that the new lead actors were dressed to resemble the original characters Marshall and Simon. He added that the show gave Eerie a new lease on life but disappeared after its initial run and became a TV urban legend. John Allemang from The Globe and Mail observed that this Canadian-made show is kid's sci-fi played for laughs, working surprisingly well, with witty swipes at normality such as a statistics department inspector troubled by a family's cereal proportions.
