Chaos Moon was founded by Alex Poole in 2004 as a one-man funeral doom project in Nashville, Tennessee. Poole initially played every instrument, and the band's first full album, Origin Of Apparition, was released in 2006 on Wraith Productions. That same year, a split album with Krieg, Languor Into Echoes, Beyond, appeared on Ars Magna Recordings. As the years passed, other members joined: Eric Baker on vocals, Steven Blackburn on guitars, and Jack Blackburn on drums. The band released the EP The Ouroboros Worm in 2011 on Plastik Musik, followed by Plaguebearer's Gift in 2012 and Amissum in 2014 on Hellthrasher Productions. The compilation album Resurrection Extract came out in 2014 on I, Voidhanger Records. Their best-reviewed album to date is Eschaton Mémoire (2017), released on Blood Music. According to Spyros Stasis of PopMatters, the album represents a summit for the band, building on the promise of their early records.
