Giovanni Trapattoni, nicknamed "Trap," is an Italian former player and manager born on 17 March 1939. While celebrated today for his global managerial feats, his roots lie deep in AC Milan history as a defensive midfielder. He spent almost his entire playing career with the Rossoneri, winning two Serie A titles (1961–62 and 1967–68) and two European Cups (1962–63 and 1968–69). He played the full match in the 1969 final, helping nullify Johan Cruyff, but was not in the matchday squad for the 1963 final.

He became caretaker manager on 10 April 1974, leading the team to a 2–0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the European Cup Winners' Cup semi-final second leg.
