Playing career

Julian Melchiori, originally selected in the draft by the Atlanta Thrashers, inked a three-year entry-level deal with the relocated Winnipeg Jets on March 16, 2012. He first hit NHL ice on December 27, 2013, logging 8:41 of playing time as the Jets beat the Minnesota Wild 6-4 at home. On July 2, 2016, he signed a two-year, two-way contract to stay with Winnipeg. After six pro seasons entirely within the Jets system, Melchiori became a free agent following the 2017-18 campaign, which he spent wholly with their AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose. He then agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Florida Panthers on July 13, 2018. Leaving Florida after a single season, he signed a one-year AHL deal with the Binghamton Devils, New Jersey's affiliate, on July 23, 2019. During the 2019-20 season, he notched 13 points in 54 games on Binghamton's blue line before the New Jersey Devils signed him to a one-year, two-way contract for the rest of the season on February 23, 2020. When that season ended early due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Melchiori became a free agent and took his career overseas, agreeing to a one-year contract with KHL club HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk on July 18, 2020. He was released without playing a game for the Russian team and instead moved to Germany, signing a one-year deal with the DEL's Grizzlys Wolfsburg on November 10, 2020. After two seasons in Wolfsburg, he left and signed a two-year contract with Eisbären Berlin on May 19, 2022.
