Playing career
JC Lipon entered the NHL when the Winnipeg Jets picked him in the third round, 91st overall, during the 2013 draft. He developed in the WHL with the Kamloops Blazers before making his big-league debut for Winnipeg on January 18, 2016. The Jets later gave him a one-year, two-way deal worth $650,000 in August 2016. After leaving Winnipeg as a free agent in August 2020, Lipon headed overseas for the first time, signing with Dinamo Riga of the KHL. That 2020–21 season saw him put up 8 goals and 20 points in 37 regular-season games for the Latvian club. With Riga out of playoff contention, he moved to Sweden’s SHL in February 2021, finishing the year with IK Oskarshamn. The following summer, Lipon returned to the KHL on a one-year contract with HC Sochi, signing in August 2021. He managed 3 goals and 10 points in 27 games for Sochi before being traded to HC Sibir Novosibirsk in late December 2021. After leaving the KHL again as a free agent, Lipon signed a one-year deal with Germany’s Straubing Tigers of the DEL in July 2022.
