Matt Williams
Managed the 2014 Nationals to 96 wins and the NL East title, and was NL Manager of the Year.
Matthew Derrick Williams (born November 28, 1965), nicknamed "Matt the Bat" and "the Big Marine", is an American professional baseball manager and former third baseman. A right-handed batter, he played in Major League Baseball for the San Francisco Giants, Cleveland Indians and Arizona Diamondbacks, and he is the only player to hit at least one World Series home run for three different teams; he finished with a .268 batting average, 378 home runs and 1,218 runs batted in.
The Giants had drafted him in the first round, third overall, in 1986. On October 31, 2013, the Washington Nationals hired Williams to replace Davey Johnson as their manager for the 2014 season. He led them to a 96–66 record and the NL East division title in his first season, though they lost the NLDS to the Giants, and he was named the 2014 National League Manager of the Year. The Nationals fired him on October 5, 2015, after a season in which they had been World Series favorites and missed the postseason.
