Sentients
Self-replicating machines built by the Orokin that turned on their makers.
The Sentients are a race of self-replicating machines made by the Orokin, a long-dead transhuman race. The Orokin sent them ahead through the Void to the Tau system to terraform it into garden worlds for the colonists who would follow.
Lore & Background
None of the colony ships returned, and the ships carrying Sentients came back with the machines determined to wipe out the Orokin, starting the Old War, the creation of the Tenno and the collapse of the Empire. The Lotus is herself a Sentient, Natah, who turned against her kind to protect the Tenno; her father Hunhow sends the Stalker to Lua to expose her secret.
