The Coven

The coven in True Blood is the group of witches led by Marnie Stonebrook (Fiona Shaw), who runs a palm-reading shop in Bon Temps. In season four the coven becomes a threat to the vampires when they find out the witches are practising necromancy, and Marnie is possessed by the spirit of a witch who wants revenge on all vampires. Holly, a waitress at Merlotte's, is one of Marnie's students and a coven member until she leaves after the incident with Eric. The coven is a group of human witches, not a vampire governing body; vampire society answers to the Vampire Authority.
