Lore & Background

Sniper Elite: Resistance introduces Harry Hawker, a character previously seen in the cooperative multiplayer modes of Sniper Elite 3, 4 and 5, as the protagonist. The story takes place alongside the events of Sniper Elite 5 and follows Hawker as he confronts a mysterious new threat known as the Wunderwaffe. The campaign begins with a failed bombing of a dam in Nazi-occupied France, leading Hawker to neutralize anti-aircraft guns and then track down local resistance forces. His mission evolves through infiltrating towns, uncovering coded documents, and discovering a deadly nerve agent called Kleine Blume, ultimately leading to a confrontation with Obergruppenführer Otto Kruger and the destruction of a train-mounted superweapon called the Zugwerfer.

Reader's Guide

Sniper Elite: Resistance retains the core gameplay of its predecessors, featuring large open levels with multiple approaches, stealth options, extensive weapon customization, and the signature X-Ray kill cam that shows internal damage from long-range sniper shots. The campaign can be played solo or cooperatively online. New additions include Propaganda Mode, time-based combat challenges unlocked by collecting posters, and the return of Invasion mode from Sniper Elite 5. A 16-player competitive multiplayer mode is also supported. The game is roughly the same size as Sniper Elite 5, and its level design was inspired by the critically acclaimed 'Spy Academy' level from that game. A 'Kill Hitler' DLC level was available as an extra purchase at launch. Reception was mixed, with GameSpot rating it 6/10, praising mode variety and mechanics but criticizing a lack of innovation and the new propaganda missions.
