Cheese Rush Days
Ren and Stimpy mine for blue cheese in the frontier.
"Cheese Rush Days" is the twentieth episode of The Ren & Stimpy Show's fourth season, which first aired on Nickelodeon on February 11, 1995. In the episode, Ren and Stimpy work as miners during a frontier blue cheese rush. Ren makes Stimpy pull their carriage while he lazily plays the banjo. Plot
In the fourth season of The Ren & Stimpy Show, the twentieth episode, "Cheese Rush Days," follows the duo as miners in the American frontier where blue cheese is as prized as gold during a rush. They travel to Blue Cheese Mountain, with Ren forcing Stimpy to haul their carriage while Ren idly plays the banjo. Exhausted after pulling the carriage up a cliff, Stimpy spots a prospector. Ren tramples Stimpy to get a closer look, and the prospector shows off his blue cheese earrings hanging from various body parts, including a single tooth made of the mineral. Stimpy sets up camp by having a buffalo they own eat grass, causing its belly to swell into an igloo-like shelter.
By a campfire, they cook buffalo chips on toast for dinner. Ren dislikes the meal, angering nearby "savage French chefs" who, to Ren's horror, are real. The chefs capture the pair and drop them into hot water to make soup. Ren tricks the chefs into leaving by claiming there is a dead cat in his soup, and a waiter approves his request for a "meat-to-go" special, which turns out to be the duo roasted over an open fire instead of escaping. Ren is disappointed, but Stimpy enjoys the taste of his own roasting.
They somehow escape but end up in the Valley of Slow Lingering Death, where they use up all their energy, barely crawling while malnourished and rotting. Eventually, they find Blue Cheese Mountain. Ren mines with a pickaxe while Stimpy chews sand for nuggets. Ren develops blisters and smells deadly "cheese gas," so he uses an oversized yellow canary to test the air. The canary smells nothing and lights a cigar, causing an explosion that confirms the gas is lethal. Stimpy discovers a cheese vein, but Ren steals it and locks Stimpy behind a brick wall to starve him, giving in to selfishness. The canary joins Stimpy, who swears off friendship with Ren, as the bird is also trapped for no reason. Suddenly, the prospector appears from underground, irritating the canary with his attitude, but he wins them over with mining knowledge: the rock they sat on is valuable. The three form an alliance.
Back in town, Ren tries to sell his cheese at the bank, but they kick him out for offering worthless "fool's cheese." He is then run over by the trio, who have become rich from their hard work, ending the episode.
