Background
Emma is one of the house's three top-scoring children, with Norman and Ray, regularly earning perfect marks on the daily exams. She was born on August 22, 2034, and the number 63194 is tattooed on her neck. During the escape she cuts off her right ear so Isabella cannot track them. Shirai made the protagonist a girl because the first antagonist, Isabella, is a woman, and he thought a mother-daughter relationship would make the story more interesting. In the end, Emma frees all the children and re-forges the Promise to bring them to the human world, at the cost of her own memory.
