Caliban's War

Caliban's War is a 2012 science fiction novel by James S. A. Corey, the pen name of Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, and the second book of The Expanse. On Ganymede, which Earth and Mars jointly control, four-year-old Mei Meng is taken from her preschool, and an attack throws the moon into chaos and a shooting war between Earth and Mars. Helping her father Praxidike Meng find her, the crew of the Rocinante uncover a plot by the Mao-Kwikowski company and rogue UN elements; with Martian Marine Bobbie Draper and UN politician Chrisjen Avasarala they destroy the protomolecule soldiers.
