Amos Burton's history begins on Earth, specifically in Baltimore, Maryland. As a survivor of the Canterbury disaster, he was part of the small group that escaped the destruction caused by unknown stealth ships attacking both his vessel and the Donnager. He joined James Holden, Naomi Nagata, and Alex Kamal as they took control of the Tachi, a Martian gunship they renamed the Rocinante. Throughout Season 1, Amos assisted in investigating the biohazard on Eros that killed most humans there, including Julie Mao. By Season 2, he was fully integrated into the crew, helping them attack the station responsible for the protomolecule before it crashed into Venus. His role expanded as they encountered protomolecule hybrids and fought alongside OPA members. In later seasons, Amos continued to serve as the ship's mechanic while navigating the political turmoil between Earth, Mars, and the Outer Planets Alliance, eventually facing Marco Inaros and his Free Navy in Season 6.

In Their Own Story

The destruction of the Canterbury marked a turning point for Amos Burton. Surviving the attack by unknown stealth ships, he escaped with Holden, Nagata, and Kamal into the Tachi gunship. Renaming their new vessel the Rocinante, the group found themselves at the center of a system-wide conspiracy. Amos helped investigate the biohazard on Eros that claimed Julie Mao's life. As the crew moved from Eros to Venus, where Miller died, and later to Ganymede, Amos remained the steady hand maintaining their ship. He fought alongside Bobbie Draper against inhuman figures and traveled through the Ring structure that opened hundreds of habitable systems. In Season 5, while the Rocinante was in dry dock at Tycho Station, Amos pursued personal missions as Marco Inaros launched stealth-shielded asteroids at Earth. By Season 6, he fought alongside the Combined Fleet of Earth and Mars to defeat the Free Navy.
