Cyrodiil
The Imperial heartland of Tamriel and setting of The Elder Scrolls IV.
Cyrodiil is the province of Tamriel that is home to the Imperials and has been the capital of three human empires through Tamriel's history. It is the setting of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, whose main story follows the player's efforts to thwart the Mythic Dawn, a fanatical cult planning to open portal gates to the demonic realm of Oblivion.
Lore & Background
In Oblivion the player can travel anywhere in the province at any time outside quest-specific areas, following side-quests, interacting with NPCs and developing their character. Cyrodiil also features in The Elder Scrolls Online, where one expansion is set in an area spanning both Cyrodiil and Black Marsh, and fan projects such as the Project: Tamriel series aim to recreate the province more consistently with its descriptions in earlier lore.
