The artefact beneath Red Mountain that made the Tribunal and Dagoth Ur gods.
The Heart of Lorkhan is an artefact of great power found by the Dwemer beneath Red Mountain in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The Dwemer created the tools Sunder and Keening to tap its power, and the Tribunal and Dagoth Ur used those same tools to reach their god-like status; Dagoth Ur also uses the Heart to make himself immortal and to power Akulakhan, an enormous mechanical golem.
Lore & Background
The tools can destroy the Heart, but without the gauntlet Wraithguard they deal a fatal blow to whoever wields them. While the Heart is intact Dagoth Ur returns from death, so the Nerevarine destroys it, killing him; Akulakhan's Chamber collapses, Red Mountain is cleared of blight and the Sixth House falls. Because the Tribunal's immortality was linked to the Heart, Vivec and the Tribunal become mortal again, and in Tribunal Azura reveals that the Heart drove Almalexia mad.
