Amulet of Kings

The amulet of the Septim emperors, shattered to end the Oblivion Crisis.

The Amulet of Kings is worn by the Septim emperors of Tamriel. In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Uriel Septim, knowing he will die at his assassins' hands, entrusts it to the player with orders to take it to Jauffre, grandmaster of the Blades, who explains that the gates of Oblivion can only be closed permanently by someone of the royal bloodline retaking the throne and relighting the Dragonfires with the Amulet in the Imperial City.

Lore & Background

The Amulet is stolen when Weynon Priory is attacked by assassins, and once recovered it is returned to Martin, who travels with the Blades to the Imperial City. There Martin shatters the Amulet of Kings, merging himself with the spirit of Akatosh, the Dragon-God of Time, and becoming Akatosh's avatar; the Amulet is destroyed and the throne lies empty, but the gates of Oblivion are shut. In The Elder Scrolls Online, retrieving the Amulet of Kings moves the player's headquarters to the Hollow City in Coldharbour.
