The Warrens cross the Atlantic to face the Enfield poltergeist and the demon behind it.
The Conjuring 2 is a 2016 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan, who co-wrote the screenplay with Chad Hayes, Carey W. Hayes and David Leslie Johnson. A sequel to The Conjuring (2013), it brings back Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The story sends the Warrens to England in 1977 to help the Hodgson family, whose council house in Enfield is the scene of poltergeist activity, the case later known as the Enfield poltergeist. In the United Kingdom the film was released as The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Case.

Background
The film opens in 1976 with the Warrens looking into the Amityville murders, where a seance gives Lorraine a vision of a demonic nun and of Ed being impaled. A year later in Enfield, Janet Hodgson, the second of four children, plays with a ouija board, and the household begins to suffer strange events. Janet sleepwalks, talks with the spirit of an angry old man and is possessed by Bill Wilkins, a man who had lived and died in the house.
The Warrens are asked to judge whether the possession is a hoax. They consult other investigators, among them Maurice Grosse and Anita Gregory, whose video appears to show Janet wrecking the kitchen on purpose. The Warrens leave, then realise that Wilkins is only a pawn of the real demon, the nun, which has also been blocking Lorraine's abilities. Back at the house, Lorraine uses the name she had scratched into her Bible during a vision, Valak, to gain power over the demon and send it back to Hell. At home, Ed adds a haunted "Crooked Man" zoetrope to the couple's collection, next to April Perron's music box and the Annabelle doll.
