The Crooked Man

The Conjuring 2 spin-off that never made it to the screen.

The Crooked Man is a cancelled spin-off film of The Conjuring series that was to be built around the secondary antagonist of The Conjuring 2. James Wan said in 2017 that he wanted it to lean toward a dark, whimsical fairy tale, so that each film in The Conjuring Universe would have its own flavour.

Background

In 2018 producer Peter Safran said the script was still being written and that the project had taken a back seat to The Nun, because audiences were more interested in the nun. In November 2022 Wan revealed that the film had been dropped for the time being.
