Nintendo is a Japanese multinational video game company headquartered in Kyoto that develops, publishes and manufactures video games and consoles. Founded in 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi to make handmade hanafuda playing cards, it moved into toys in the 1960s and video games in the 1970s. In 1989 it developed and published Tetris for the Game Boy, bundled with the handheld in North America and Europe, and for the NES.
