Production

After the American version proved popular in early 2019, Simon Cowell decided to launch a British spin-off with the same subtitle and rules. ITV gave the go-ahead for production, and the competition ran from July to August that year, featuring the usual hosts and judges. Like its US counterpart, the episodes were filmed in advance, with recording happening during the contest period and editing done for weekly broadcasts late that summer. On September 1st, 2026, the network confirmed the Champions series would come back for the main show’s 20th anniversary in autumn 2027.
