The 100 Lives of Black Jack Savage

Plot

The series followed Black Jack Savage, the ghost of a 17th-century Caribbean pirate, and Barry Tarberry, a crooked Wall Street con artist who escaped trial by coming to the Caribbean. Facing eternal damnation, they discover they need to save 100 lives to compensate for their sinful lives and save their own souls. Black Jack cannot leave the safety of his castle haunt on San Pietro Island without being targeted by the snarks, entities that can transport him to Hell through an entrance at the base of the tree where he was hanged. Tarberry dodges government agents sent to extradite him to the United States. Other characters include the corrupt governor-general Abel Vasquez, with whom Tarberry makes another deal, and island activist Danielle, who tries to protect locals from Vasquez's corruption and enlists Tarberry's help. Each episode ended with a graphic reading "??? Lives To Go..." A regular part of every episode was the appearance of the Blackbird, a high-tech black trimaran speedboat resembling an SR-71 reconnaissance plane, built by scientist/inventor Logan "FX" Murphy. Originally commissioned by a drug runner, the boat was taken by Tarberry after the runner's arrest and moored at a secret dock at Blackbird Castle.
