Premise
The series follows Jean-Claude Van Damme, playing a fictionalized version of himself as a retired martial arts and action movie star. In this world, his entire film career and personal history are a front for his real identity: a secret agent code-named Jean-Claude Van Johnson. His personal assistant and makeup artist are also covert operatives, functioning as his handler and weapons expert. After a five-year retirement from espionage, Van Damme reconnects with his former handler, Vanessa (Kat Foster), and realizes he misses both their professional partnership and their romantic relationship. He decides to return to the field, initially pursuing a drug lord but soon uncovering a more dangerous plot involving terrorists with a weather control machine. His manager, Jane (Phylicia Rashad), is actually his superior, running the entire covert agency. The team also includes Luis (Moisés Arias), a new weapons specialist and former child soldier who would rather be a hairstylist and makeup artist. Van Damme’s new cover requires him to star in Huck, a violent, reimagined action version of Huckleberry Finn, forcing him to juggle spy missions with the demands of its self-absorbed director, Gunnar (Tim Peper). He also encounters Filip (also played by Van Damme), a lookalike fan who eventually grows to despise him. Recurring jokes center on Van Damme’s fragile ego, his habit of constantly name-dropping his own movies, and his tendency to find himself in absurd, movie-like scenarios—such as enemies attacking one at a time or meeting a future version of himself—that others dismiss as unrealistic.
