World Without End (miniseries)
A medieval town endures war and plague in 14th-century England.
World Without End is an eight-episode 2012 television miniseries based on Ken Follett's 2007 novel of the same name, serving as a sequel to the 2010 miniseries The Pillars of the Earth. Set 150 years after its predecessor, it follows the English town of Kingsbridge during the Hundred Years' War and the Black Death. The cast includes Cynthia Nixon, Miranda Richardson, Ben Chaplin, Peter Firth, Charlotte Riley and Tom Weston-Jones.

Production
Tandem Communications secured a first right to negotiate for World Without End while acquiring The Pillars of the Earth rights. Announced in December 2010, the miniseries was co-produced by Tandem, Scott Free Productions, Take 5 Productions and Galafilm. John Pielmeier wrote the screenplay, and Michael Caton-Jones signed on as director in March 2011. Main casting finished in June 2011, with filming beginning a month later in Europe. A medieval town was built on a 12,000 m2 backlot at Korda Studios in Hungary, with additional shoots in Slovakia and Austria.
Broadcast
The series was acquired by Sat.1 in Germany, Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, Shaw Media in Canada, Cuatro in Spain, ORF in Austria, Sky Italia in Italy, DR in Denmark and TV2 in Hungary. In the United States, Starz could not reach an agreement with Tandem, so ReelzChannel acquired it. Canada's premiere was 4 September 2012 on Showcase; Australia aired 90-minute combined episodes on ABC starting 7 December 2014. The US broadcast on ReelzChannel comprised four 2-hour episodes beginning 17 October 2012. Italy aired four episodes on Sky Movies from 11 November to 2 December 2012 under the title Mondo Senza Fine.
