Strange Angel is an American historical drama television series that premiered on June 14, 2018, on CBS All Access. It is based on the biography of Thelemic magician and rocket scientist Jack Parsons, created by Mark Heyman. The series was canceled after two seasons, with the second season premiering on June 13, 2019.

Premise
Strange Angel follows Jack Parsons, a brilliant blue-collar worker in 1930s Los Angeles who starts as a janitor at a chemical factory and pursues fantastical dreams that lead him to pioneer American rocketry. He becomes a disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley, using Crowley's teachings of self-actualization to support his endeavor to reach the stars, while engaging in sex magic rituals at night.
Production
In October 2014, Mark Heyman was writing a television adaptation of George Pendle's biography for AMC, to be produced by Ridley Scott and Scott Free Productions. By 2016, a writers room and multiple scripts were completed, but AMC did not proceed. In August 2017, CBS All Access ordered the series to series, utilizing the scripts from AMC after a deal between the networks. In December 2017, the production received California tax credits of about $7.846 million. The first season of ten episodes premiered June 14, 2018, released weekly on Thursdays. In October 2018, CBS All Access renewed the series for a second season, which received $10.6 million in tax credits in December 2018. The second season premiered June 13, 2019. In November 2019, the series was canceled. Casting announcements included Jack Reynor as Jack Parsons in January 2018, Rupert Friend as Ernest Donovan in January 2018, Bella Heathcote as Susan Parsons in February 2018, and six additional actors in February 2018: Peter Mark Kendall, Michael Gaston, Greg Wise, Rade Šerbedžija, Zack Pearlman, and Keye Chen. In March 2018, Laine Neil and Elena Satine joined in recurring roles. Karl Makinen joined in a recurring capacity in April 2018. Laine Neil was promoted to series regular for season 2 in April 2019.
