The Tiny Chef Show
A tiny chef cooks tiny dishes from a tree-stump home.
The Tiny Chef Show, a mix of live action and stop motion, debuted on Nickelodeon on September 9, 2022. Creators Rachel Larsen, Ozlem "Ozi" Akturk, and Adam Reid saw the series end after three seasons in June 2025, a cancellation linked to the Paramount Global and Skydance Media merger. A crowdfunding effort later allowed for continued social media posts, but as of April 2026, the show has not been revived.

Premise
The Tiny Chef Show centers on its host preparing miniature meals inside a tree-stump home for his fictional cooking program, joined by the robot Olly, the snail Henry, and the caterpillar Ruby. Several recurring segments appear. In "What's in My Bag?", Tiny Chef, wearing an apron and fake moustache, hosts a game show where Olly, Bonzo, and Henry guess the hidden main ingredient, with Olly usually winning. "Ingredient Documentary" explores an ingredient's history, narrated by Spoon of the Stump Band in seasons two and three. "Tiny Time Dance" features Tiny Chef and Olly dancing as a baking transition. "Dish with Chef" is a talk show where Tiny Chef, in red glasses, quizzes a celebrity about food and sometimes asks for advice. "Good Golly with Olly" has Olly commenting on the episode's topics.
Characters
Tiny Chef (voiced by Matt Hutchinson) is a vegan green humanoid creature who lives in a tree stump and speaks with rhotacism, often replacing phonemes with a "bl" sound. Olly (voiced by Odessa A'zion) is a female robot and Tiny Chef's best friend and assistant. The offscreen announcer is voiced by various celebrities, including RuPaul, Alan Cumming, Nicole Byer, Amy Sedaris, and Rebel Wilson across different episodes. Robin (portrayed by Dana Alexander) is a live-action delivery girl. Henry is a slow-moving snail with a colorful shell, and Ruby is Tiny Chef's fuzzy pet caterpillar. Miss Penny is Tiny Chef's long-haired cat; in 2026, it was revealed that Miss Penny had died. The Stump Band consists of living kitchen utensils, including a wooden spoon on guitar (voiced by Michael-Leon Wooley), a wooden fork, and a wood-handled spatula; in season 2, the band was restructured and added a cheese shredder. Bonzo (voiced by Alasdair Saunders) is a sentient can of beans who only says the word "beans."
Production
The Tiny Chef Show started as a web series in 2018, created by Reid, Larsen, and Akturk. Nickelodeon picked it up in August 2020, ordering it from Imagine Kids+Family, Tiny Chef Productions, and Nickelodeon Animation Studio. Kristen Bell joined as an executive producer in August 2022, and the show aired its first episode the following month. A second season of 12 episodes was announced in November 2023 and debuted later that month. After three seasons, Nickelodeon canceled the show in June 2025. The creators posted an animation online showing Tiny Chef crying after a call from Nickelodeon about the cancellation, which went viral, and they launched a crowdfunding campaign to continue the series on social media. Later shorts featured Tiny Chef sadly playing banjo to “Paint It Black” and refusing to cook, ordering pizza instead. Celebrities like Florence Pugh, Melissa McCarthy, and Dionne Warwick showed support, and A24 also reached out. In 2026, Tiny Chef appeared in an IKEA-sponsored miniseries.
Reception
Diondra Brown from Common Sense Media gave the series four out of five stars, stating it "will likely inspire children to want to get in the kitchen and make yummy dishes, big or small." Creator Reid reflected that audiences may connect with the show because Tiny Chef "looks for the good in everything" and is "also very human." The series received multiple award nominations. In 2023, it was nominated at the 50th Annie Awards for Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Preschool Children for the episode "Pancakes." At the 2nd Children's and Family Emmy Awards, it received nominations for Outstanding Preschool Animated Series, Outstanding Writing for a Preschool Animated Program, and Outstanding Directing for a Preschool Animated Program. In 2025, the episode "Tiny Chef's Spooky Stump Spectacular" was nominated at the 52nd Annie Awards for Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Preschool Children. At the 3rd Children's and Family Emmy Awards, the series was nominated for Outstanding Preschool Animated Series, Outstanding Animated Special for "Tiny Chef's Marvelous Mish Mesh Special," and Outstanding Editing for a Preschool Animated Program. In 2026, the series received nominations at the 4th Children's and Family Emmy Awards for Outstanding Preschool Animated Series and Outstanding Writing for a Preschool Animated Series.
