Production
In 2009, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg announced that Nickelodeon had ordered a pilot for a Monsters vs. Aliens cartoon series. The series was green-lit for 26 episodes at the 2012 annual Nickelodeon upfront. New voice actors were cast: Chris O'Dowd as Dr. Cockroach, Riki Lindhome as Ginormica, Diedrich Bader as Link, and Eric Edelstein as B.O.B. The series was partly produced by New Zealand CG animation studio Oktobor Animation. Executive producers Bob Schooley, Mark McCorkle, and Brett Haaland previously worked on Penguins. In November 2013, Schooley announced on Twitter that the series would not be renewed for a second season due to low ratings and the network's desire to return to more Nickish shows.
