Bela Talbot

Background

She appears only in the third season and uses her knowledge of the supernatural world for her own gain rather than to help those in need. In her first episode, "Bad Day at Black Rock", she hires two crooks to steal a cursed rabbit's foot from a storage container owned by the late hunter John Winchester. Sam and Dean recover the foot, Bela shoots Sam in the shoulder, and in the end she gets away with $46,000 in winning lottery tickets that Dean had bought with the foot's luck.

In "Red Sky at Morning" she fools the brothers into helping her steal the Hand of Glory, then has to turn to them for help when a ghost ship, which only appears to those who have spilled the blood of a family member, marks her for death. She later helps save Bobby Singer from a mystical coma only to gain access to the Colt, which she steals, and in "Jus in Bello" she sets a trap that gets the Winchesters arrested.

In "Time Is On My Side" Dean learns from her criminal record in England that her true name is Abbie, and that at 14 she had her parents killed as part of a ten-year deal with a Crossroads Demon. Desperate as her time runs out, she tries to kill the Winchesters, admits she tried to trade the Colt to get out of the deal, and tells Dean that the demon Lilith holds every contract made by Crossroads Demons, his own included. Her descent into Hell is not shown, only signalled by hellhounds barking outside her room.

In the fifth season episode "The Real Ghostbusters" it is revealed that she had really given the Colt to Crowley, Lilith's right-hand man. Negative responses from fans led to her departure at the end of the third season.
