Career

Vibe came together in 2002 when Yoon Min-soo, who had previously been in the vocal group 4Men, brought in singer-songwriter Ryu Jae-hyun and rapper Yoo Sung-gyu to form a trio. Their first single, "Although It Is Hateful, Again," was a big hit and quickly made the group well-known. The follow-up, "Promise U," also did very well. In November 2003, they put out their second album, which gave them two more huge singles: "Long Long Time" and "While Looking at the Picture." Those successes locked in their reputation as reliable hitmakers. During the break before their third album, Yoo decided to leave the group to follow his own musical direction, adopting the stage name Noblesse. Vibe returned in 2006 with a third album that scored with the tracks "That Man, That Woman" and "Drinking." After that, both members had to pause their activities to serve in the military, keeping the group on hold from 2006 until 2009. Their fourth album featured the title track "Comeback Again." Since then, Yoon and Ryu have mostly worked on their own separate projects. In 2011, Yoon appeared on MBC's I Am a Singer, performing "That Man, That Woman" and "Drinking," and finished in second place behind Insooni. Ryu built a name for himself as a composer and producer, working with acts like SG Wannabe, SeeYa, and F.T. Island. Vibe was honored as the featured legend on episode 531 of Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend, which aired on November 6, 2021.
