Career
JeA initiated the group's formation and selected the other members: Miryo, who had been part of the hip-hop group Honey Family; Narsha, whom JeA recalled as a talented singer from school; and Ga-in, chosen after she was eliminated from the reality competition series Let's Coke Play! Battle Shinhwa!. Before debuting, the group performed small-scale concerts under the tentative names "Crescendo" and "Dark Angel". After three years of training, they released their debut album Your Story on March 2, 2006, with the lead single "Come Closer". Initially a "faceless group", they did not appear in visual media or their own music video. The album was not a commercial success but was later re-released to include "Hold The Line", which became a hit and gained international exposure through the game Pump It Up. Their second album Leave Ms. Kim (떠나라 미스김) featured the R&B single "You Got Me Fooled" (너에게 속았다), followed by "Oasis" (오아시스) featuring Lee Jae Hoon and "It's Mine" (내꺼야) with SeeYa. A digital single "I Am a Summer" (내가 여름이다) was released between albums and later included in the second LP. The first two albums contained typical R&B ballads, but commercial success was higher with the singles between them. The second album's release coincided with Wonder Girls' nationwide hit "Tell Me", contributing to its commercial disappointment as the K-pop scene shifted from R&B ballads to dance music.
Other musical efforts
Group members have contributed to several South Korean drama soundtracks, including The Vineyard Man ("Loving You"), Queen of the Game ("Poisonous Love"), Dae Jo-yeong ("Dae Jo-yeong"), The Kingdom of the Winds ("A lot of love"), My Fair Lady ("I Love You"), and The Slave Hunters ("Stray Child"). JeA participated in OST songs before the group's debut. Miryo and JeA collaborated on the single "Love Is..." released in May 2010. The group collaborated with 4Minute for a World Cup song in 2010. Ga-in took part in the "4Tomorrow Project" with Kara's Seung-yeon, After School's Uee, and 4Minute's Hyuna, and released the digital single "I Happen to Love You" with Jo Kwon from 2AM, which was voted No. 1 on several music programs in January 2010. In 2011, Miryo and Sunny of Girls' Generation released the single "I Love You, I Love You".
