Cardinals–Seahawks rivalry

A newer NFC West rivalry born in the 2002 realignment, led by Seattle 31–22–1.

The Cardinals–Seahawks rivalry is the NFL rivalry between the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks. It is one of the league's younger rivalries, starting once the 2002 realignment placed both clubs in the NFC West, and it grew bitter in the mid-to-late 2010s as they fought for the division. Seattle leads 31–22–1, and the two have never met in the playoffs.

Background

Before 2002 the teams met only six times as opponents from different conferences, and the Cardinals won the first five until Seattle beat them 33–14 at the Kingdome in 1998. As division rivals they split their meetings in the 2000s, 8–8, and each swept the other on the way to a Super Bowl: Seattle in 2005 before Super Bowl XL, Arizona in 2008 before Super Bowl XLIII. In 2012, Russell Wilson's first start came in Arizona, a 20–16 Cardinals win sealed by a last-second goal-line stand, and Seattle answered later that season with a 58–0 home victory.
